This things got shelded wires thicker than the average iron cable, great easy to open as stated packaging and the ends of the wires are completed with caps for safety during trasnportation and shipping which for a budget basic cable is a great touch.

Good length for many a task and well made too, for me there is nothing “basics” about this… It’s as good a cable as you’ll ever need as I personally never like or use the over rated gold plated oxygen free blah blah blah kind of cables.

  2. Amazon’s much awaited low cost high value and quality 3 metre HDMI cable has gold plated connectors and shielding that is actually quite good… I have had to replace a cable before in the same position as this due to interference from power cables etc… this one handles the ‘electric noise’ with ease… great stuff!

Also to note though is that this is a HDMI 1080 cable.. not HDMIi.

If your connecting gaming machines, etc its fantastic… blu-ray players might need something a little more substantial; these however can be up to 50x the price!

Another sure fire great product from Amazon.

Essentially, the difference between a cheapo HDMI cable and a more expensive one is not the quality of the cable itself – as has been said many times before, the signal is all 1s and 0s. It’ll either get through or it won’t.

What you do pay for with the more expensive cables is (a)the quality of the plug either end, and (b)the plastic/rubber/braided coating.

This helps with (a)a tighter/firmer fit into the sockets, and (b) less chance for the signal to get interference from surrounding magnetic fields etc.

Therefore, it is worth paying a little extra for a decent HDMI cable, but not silly money like £40-50+.

This Amazon Basics cable seems to provide the perfect balance between quality (plugs/coating) and price!!

Used this with my Xbox 360 and my HD TV, works fine and looks good, what else can you say about it?

Great product at a great price. I was using a standard HDMI cable for my new 22″ Samsung HD monitor – That standard cable actually cost almost as much as this one!

I don’t know what was causing the interference problem – there are a lot of electronics in the same area, speakers, dvds, another monitor, a DAB radio, printer etc.

I still don’t know what was causing the problem with interference – I do know that this cable stopped it and my new monitor now displays perfectly and plays audio clearly (that was the main problem) and I didn’t change anything except the cable.

The packaging was great, hassle-free packaging really is a bonus. My only very slight gripe is that the cable is the braided kind – I’m sure there is some technical reason for it – but it does mean you can’t wipe it clean as easily as the plastic coated ones. However for the results and the price I definitely recommend it.
