I’m impressed with these. Though my telly isn’t swanky enough to conduct any scientific comparison, the picture quality looks just as good as with the Sony DVD-Rs I’ve used in the past. The only drawbacks were the packaging – a touch excessive and surprisingly tricky to conquer – and the shiny disc surface, which is harder to write on neatly than the Sony DVDs.
All-in-all, though, first-rate. I’ll be using them again.

These are bargain basic DVD-R discs, and they work fine – no problems at all so far both in my computers (iMac & MacBook) and in my Sony hard disc video recorder. The packaging is straightforward – I guess the ‘frustration free’ tag line refers to the fact the cover is in one piece and is easily removable with a quarter-turn (some spindle packs have a screw top that takes many turns to undo, others a flimsy cellophane pack that falls apart or no spindle at all, although I must admit the ‘frustration’ these have caused me, in the grand scheme of things, is minimal). What else can you say? Unlike some bargain discs, the faces are not completely blank (no problems in putting them in the drive upside down) but there is plenty of space to above and below the Amazon logo for labelling. Recommended.

I think I got the wrong end of the stick with these…having read about the minimal packaging I was expecting a spindle of disks with a sticker on the outside plastic tube; What I actually got was a large brown box (big enough for a laptop computer) filled with brown paper for padding & a smaller brown box which contained the spindle, with out a plastic tube cover but rather a removable (by breaking it) plastic seal covering a paper label.
The disks however do what they say on the ‘packaging’ we’re only 3 into the pack but so far no read or write errors – better than some brands.
I would love to know what Amazon mean by “frustration-free” packaging, I really would.
The discs come in exactly the same sort of spindled container we are familiar with from every other supplier, and that plastic cylinder came in a cardboard box that was wrapped in crumpled brown paper and placed in another rather large box such as I have seen old ladies take their cat to the vet in.
Whatever “frustration-free” packaging means then, it clearly does not mean minimal packaging.
However, the discs are fine, and I would have been amazed if they were not. They are also good value at this price for 100, especially if you use the free delivery option. Hence my five stars, and that’s it, I’m plum-tuckered out of things to say about this product.

It’s a Basic DVD-R which more than holds it’s own with more expensive discs I’ve used. No better though than a Tesco or Aldi equivalent. I’m not sure where the billions of CDs are actually produced but I can imagine both expensive and basic being churned out in the same Chinese factory ?
I must comment though on the ridiculous packaging overkill! I thought I had received a computer or microwave oven such was the size of the box. After wading through the boxes, packaging, plastic and bumff I arrrived at a spindle of DVD’s. Good value but surely the postage must have cost more than the product?
It’s not easy being green is it Amazon !
