Upgraded with Trex Parts. Thx AL for video taping! After the 450X aluminum tail hub failed, the head and tail assemblies were totalled. All parts were transfered over to the Raptor. Now the Raptor flys it’s best, about $500 later. Some mods will be performed, such as adding a trex flybar/paddle set, and adjusting the tail travel. Hopefully the cyclic and tail will be improved over what you see in this video.

The motor and battery are not powerful enough. You need a brushless motor and a Lithium Polymer battery
i was wondering? why doesint it fly good stock. whats the diffrence.
Nope, not really, but the CopterX is totally compatible with the 450SE V2, which uses some 450SE V1 parts, they’re readily available from your LHS or online stores, you can get parts within 1 or 2 days shipping between states. From ushobbysupply you can get it for around $230 or so, it’s worth it. Crashes are WAY cheaper, just blades and shafts usually, maybe main gear but those are $3 each. $25-$50 per crash maybe. If u break the battery then +$40, +$80 if it’s an evo25.
Is the CopterX barebone kit compatable with any Raptor parts? I might get that next.
Haha ya, but compared to the CopterX, it’s night and day. Can’t beat carbon fiber and aluminum.
If you ever crash the Raptor and it’s expensive to get new parts, I’d go and get the CopterX body and swap all your parts to that heli, you won’t be disappointed.
It took me about $500 to make my Raptor fly too. They don’t do good stock but they rock when upgraded!
Oh, RC Smart, I’ve seen those. They’re economy quality. You can’t expect much of them, if you get over 50 good cycles on them, they’re doing good. With a $75 EVO25, you’ll get at least 100+ VERY good cycles out of them. But you don’t need that until you’re doing 3D, and don’t crash much.
hey srry i made a mistake. its an rc smart lipo. do u know anything about them?
yeah i got it off ebay. apparently its a new item that just came in. but i guess you never know when it comes from hongkong. thanks again you’ve helped me out alot.
Hey, you asked me about the 1450mAh 20C mystery lipo.
I never heard of it, it should be ok, Mystery motors/escs seem good tho.
To measure the C rating you need a flight data logger, I’ve never used them, but they record the amps pulled, if the motor/esc are demanding enough, you can see the max amps the battery is outputting. If the motor/esc isn’t demanding, then you won’t see the max C of the battery.
No prob.
If you’re just starting off, you’re best off buying the $30 2200mAh 20C+ packs, from ebay or the web. I say this because you’ll want to crash a few times, and not risk losing an $80 thunder power or EVO.
I broke a few $40 3E’s.
alright thanks alot. that helps!
Hey, you must have an old kit, the new ones come with the 1800mAh LiPO now, this is because the 1250mAh only produces 10C = 10*Capacity = 10*1250 = 12500mA, which is 12.5A, the ESC is 30A, so the battery is being overloaded by 30-12.5 = 17.5A(Not really, but it’s that much undersized for the Raptor). With an 1800*15=27A, so it’ll work much better. You could go for a little more, 2200mAh 15C, but I don’t think it’s neccessary.
That 1250mAh battery shouldn’t be used to fly, use it in the remote
hey i crashed my raptor g2 SE but i’m running all the electronics from it. the lipo battery gets really hot and i dont know what to do? its a 1250 MAH 10C. im getting an esky 1800 MAH 15C. should that work better? what does the C stand for?
actually i just wanted one of these..i hace 2 hel max axe cps stock,,and a mini titan with our runner, castle creations esc, align gyro, thunder power battery and a spektrum dx6 set up..im not ready for that titan yet,,Just looking for one of these gts for hovering and basic flight
Ya, I know what you mean, the yellow canopy/blades/tail blades makes it look pretty slick in the air. It’s a good 2D machine, not very good for 3D.
My Raptor’s not even worth the shipping costs. You should buy the new Raptor kits and upgrade to brushless if you don’t have a heli right now.
i jjust do basic flying no inverted..i just love the looks of the heli…got a raptor for sale..lol
Thanks. But it’s probably good you didn’t keep it. The cyclic rates aren’t that great, sure you can tick tock, but barely. The CopterX 450SEV2 is much better. Ya I’ve got the GY401/9254 combo is awesome, but it’s a little much for the Raptor.
If you’re thinking of upgrading, you’ll like the 450SEV2.
great flying..i wish i kept my raptor g2 now..is that the ne all stock but upgraded align esc ,motor and futaba on tail,,you using a 401 gyro also, with stock blades..really smooth flying great job dude
Haha ya, it was doing alright, but the tail was loose.
I’ve got all the electronics on the CopterX now, so no more Raptor flying for now.
wow its amazing what good electronics do for the heli nice job dave!!!
Haha, no way man, not that long, it’s pretty easy, you just gotta simulate, and once you can do this in the simulator, you can do it with the Raptor. Choose a really weak 3D heli, and it’ll be just like that, as long as you set up your Raptor properly. I did flips with the stock heli before, and it’s really slow, so be ready for that, with that in mind, you shouldn’t have a problem.
awesome flying!!! maybe in a few years for me…
