I ordered a headset off amazon and i live in an apartment, what is going to happen to it?
Categories: Amazon
it will be delivered to your apt DOOR…like everyone gets their things…
If it is too big to fit in the box they will either leave a note to come pick it up at the post office or deliver it to your door (US mail rarely comes to doors in apartments, but UPS does)
They will just buzz you and you let them in
If it does not fit in the mailbox and is coming by post the apartment super or manager will collect it and notify you. If it is coming via UPS they will ring your apartment.
If it is coming by post, then the mailman will put it in your mailbox. If it doesn’t fit, he will leave you a card and then you will have to go to the post office and pick it u p. If it is UPS or FedEx then they will deliver to your door. If the package requires a signature, then you will have to sign for it. If not, they may leave it by your door. If you have an office at your complex, I would ask them if you can leave a sign for them to leave it there and then you get it from the office. That way no one can steal your package. They leave the stuff at my front door and so far no one has stolen anything. But I have bought some stuff I would hate to lose.
As long as you put your address and apt. number it should be fine. but if you didn’t put the number it will probably be held and they might ask for you number.
Didn’t you indicate your apartment number? If not it is likely to go anywhere, or maybe they will call for more information. It will delay getting the headphones if you get them at all.
If you ordered recently like in the last couple hours, you may be able to cancel the order, then followup Monday with a phone call. You can cancel, and then reorder and when you give shipping information, add enough on the address #2 line, that your package will get to you. A number, a description, a floor, brief directions. You might not otherwise might not have much to say for address #2, but here you have a few characters to work with and it will be printed out on the shipping label.
“Basement apartment on street side.” “Look for note on front door.” (and leave the note: Package from Amazon goes here!) OR
“Please call first” and add your phone number and when they call, go out and meet them.
They will want the info because they would much rather get the package to you than continue to try to find you or haul it back to the office.
Hi. I work for Fedex. If Fedex or UPS has your delivery there are a couple different options we try. If you have your apt.number on it and it is a safe location, your package could be left at your door. If you don’t want it left at your door, leave a note on your door asking the delivery driver to leave it at the leasing office. If it is not a safe location or if the leasing office won’t sign for packages, you will be left a notice stating that a delivery attempt was made and your package could not be left. You will be given the option to pick up your package at a specific location or be asked to sign the notice so that your package can be left, with your permission. Fedex and UPS will attempt to delivery your package for 3 business days in a row. So you do have time to decide what to do. Hope this helps!
are you worried you won’t be home for the delivery? they usually deliver during normal business hours. when i lived in an apartment and missed a delivery, the carrier would post a note on my door and take the package to the business office of my apartments. that’s a safe way to go.
if you’re really that worried about it, just leave a note on your door the day you are expecting the delivery and give specific instructions of your expectations (i.e. give to a neighbor, take to business office, back to main office for pick up). as long as you are reasonable, the carrier is usually pretty respectful about observing them.
